I’ve come across two interesting articles published by GEOFF HUSTON. Geoff is the Chief Scientist at APNIC, the Regional Internet Registry serving the Asia Pacific region. His web site http://www.potaroo.net/ is the most refered place to track the IPv4 address exhaustion.
The first article is an overview of the year 2009, and the evolution/growth/demand for Internet addressing. You can find the article here http://www.potaroo.net/ispcol/2010-01/addresses-2009.html
The second article, the lengthy one, is a study of the market failure of transition to IPv6. Geoff does a detailed analysis of what went wrong with IPv6 transition, how it should have been, and what is the expected outcome and impact caused by government/public negligence . You can agree with it or deny it, still the article makes sense. Read it here http://www.potaroo.net/ispcol/2009-09/v6trans.html
